OK. In case you want to know more about me. Here's my CV, with all the bits and pieces and snippets of info... it's been alright.

1979-85  Dr Challoner's Grammar School Amersham.

1985-86  High Wycombe College of FE. Studied Art Foundation.

1986-89  Manchester Polytechnic. Studied Film and TV Production.

1989-90  London. Worked as a runner in Soho film industry.

1990     Ran away to St Ives to work in a Surf Shop after breaking ankle skateboarding. Lied to boss that break was really serious. Got away with it. Great summer.

1990  September returned to London.

1990-96   Worked in Film Industry as a runner, 2nd AD, 1st AD on commercials, pop promos, doccos. Videos for: Rolling Stones, Annie Lennox, Paul McCartney. Arranged interviews with Charlton Heston, Lauren Bacall, Kirk Douglas for documentary about Jack Cardiff. 2nd AD on commercials for Gold Blend, OXO, BMW, Guinness etc.

1994    Bought first Type 25 VW camper. Travelled to Ireland.

1995   Travelled to Sri Lanka, India, Bali.

1996   January, moved to Beaver's Cottage, Devon.

1998   May - September in France working as 2nd AD on ITV's 'Monsignor Renard' with John Thaw. Decided to pursue another career after coming home.

1999   November - December travelled to surf in Panama.

1999    Met Joanne. Opened North Devon's first Internet Cafe. Bad idea. Not unsuccessful but we sold it in 2001.

2002    Started as junior copywriter at Bray Leino. Worked on campaigns for Wrigleys, BP, Champion, Castrol, Shloer. 

2003   Maggie born.

2004    Charlie born. Maggie in hospital from Jan - July with Leukaemia. Bought 2nd VW Type 3, July.

2006     Set up Copy Monkey Limited. Writing work for Barclaycard, CLIC Sargent, Pepsi, Superdrug, Luscombe, World First, among others.

2009     Wrote The Camper Van Cookbook.

2010   Filmed 'One Man and his Campervan' for the BBC. 5 weeks filming around the UK.

2011   Wrote The Camper Van Coast. Travel to Outer Hebrides, Ireland.

2012    June - September travel to France, Spain in VW camper.

2013   Moved to Bude. Started the #2minutebeachclean movement.

2015    Wrote The Camper Van Bible.

2016   The Camper Van Bible published. Didn't catch any fish. Separated from Joanne. Started work on Take The Slow Road: Scotland with a solo road trip to The Outer Hebrides. 

2017   Went to the Arctic in a motorhome with the Caravan Club. Started a new life. Camped, Surfed, cooked, travelled, saw a bit of life again. Time with my girls. Resurrected some dreams. Fell in love.

2018  Published two books on the same day, Take The Slow Road: Scotland with Bloomsbury and No. More. Plastic. with Ebury (Penguin Random House). Finished researching and writing Take The Slow Road: England and Wales. Bought my forever house with Lizzy (Dr. Seaweed). DIY. Happiness. 

2019  Take The Slow Road: England and Wakes was published in May. Finished writing and researching Ireland in July. Began on France in August! The #2minutebeachclean became a charity in October and I became the CEO. Began writing two new books Kids Fight Plastic and No More Rubbish Excuses. Won a Point of Light Award from some woman called Theresa May. In October Lizzy caught a huge bass while kayaking off Boscastle.

2020  The year started brilliantly with learning to snowboard on a take the slow road adventure in France. Then I was named by The Wombles as their first Litter Hero. Then it kicked off. No fish to speak of. Publication of 'Kids Fight Climate Change' delayed until March 2021.

After Lockdown V1.0 I finished Take The Slow Road: France, just, with some truly memorable trips to the Ardeche, Dordogne, Med, Alps and the Pyrenees, among opther regions. I can't wait for the book to come out in May 2021. 

2021 Spent much of the year researching and writing Off The Beaten Track: England and Wales, a book about getting away from it all. 

2022 Writing and researching Take the Slow Road: Spain and Portugal took up 5 months of the year. I absolutely loved travelling the Iberian peninsula for the book and had a great time.

2023 The year started well! I was awarded an MBE for 'services to the environment'. However, soon after it all went wrong when I broke my ACL training on the beach. Surgery in March. Rehab for the rest of the year. Started writing The Green Camping Book during my personal lockdown.
